Privacy NOTICE

How we use your personal information

Castle Gamers is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors to our website. This privacy notice is to let you know how we promise to look after your personal information. This includes what you tell us about yourself, what we record by having you as a member of our forum, and the choices you make about any correspondence you want to receive from us. This notice explains how we do this and tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

Data Protection law

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) come into force on 25 May 2018. This notice sets out most of your rights under the new laws.

How the law protects you

Law protects your privacy and this section explains how that works.

Data Protection law says that we are allowed to use your personal information only if we have a proper reason to do so. This includes sharing it outside of Castle Gamers. The law says we must have one or more of these reasons:

  • To fulfil a contract we have with you, or
  • When it is our legal duty, or
  • When it is in our legitimate interest, or
  • When you consent to it.

Types of data we collect

This section tells you about the types of data and sort of information we collect through our main website at www.castlegamers.co.uk (“our website”) and through our Castle Gamers Forum (“the forum”).

Facebook Like button and social widgets

Our website contains programmes (plug-ins) operated by the social network Facebook. These programmes are exclusively operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304 USA (Facebook). The plug-ins are clearly visible on our website through the use of the Facebook logo or through the add-on “like” button.

When visiting our website or profile containing such a plug-in, your browser will establish a direct link with the servers operated by Facebook; as a result the content of the plug-in will be transferred to your browser and embedded in the website being shown.

If you visit our website whilst signed into your Facebook user account, information concerning your visit will be transferred to Facebook. Facebook can assign your visit to our website to your user account. Information arising from interaction with the Facebook plug-ins (such as by clicking the Facebook “like” button or by leaving a comment) will be directly transferred to and stored by Facebook. To prevent this you must log out of your Facebook account before visiting our website.

Please refer to Facebook’s privacy policy for more information on: the purpose and scope of data collection and data analysis undertaken by Facebook, your rights, how to modify settings and how to protect your privacy.

Google Analytics

When someone visits our website we use a third party service called Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of our site, how they find our site and where they come from. We use this information to better understand our visitors and how they use our site and to make improvements to our site. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not authorise Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our websites.

Forum Registration

As a user of the forum, we request that you provide us with certain personal data such as your email address as part of the account registration process. We use this data so that you are identifiable in the forum. By default, the forum will email you when a message is posted to a thread that you are following. This option can be changed in the forum preferences.

Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Personal data within the forum is accessible via the forum user preferences and we provide you with the facility to edit directly and update that data if it is incorrect or has changed.
